We continued on the road with gentle uphill and downhill climbs until we reached our destination, Navarette, a village of about 2,200.
It turns out we came to this village on the right day; it is a day of celebration of its patron saint, San Miguel, so there are many festivities that involve people of all ages. As we walked down the street looking for a restaurant to eat dinner in, we encountered a street full of children having a great time with some entertainers. Then while we were eating, we heard live music coming from outside. When we left the restaurant, we encountered another huge group of people listening to three singers and an accompanist on a stage in the plaza. The singers invited the children to come up on stage and perform a couple of songs that obviously are popular here. The kids were having a great time and parents were busy taking pictures and clapping for their children. Afterwards, we went to a market near the plaza to buy some fruit. We commented to the checker that there were a lot of people in the store and she explained that it is the village's Patron Saint Day.
